Miracle League Involvement:
Three generations of my family have enjoyed playing the game of baseball right here in Amherstburg’s Wigle Park. The love of playing this sport has been passed down from father to son and has resulted in many memorable moments our family has treasured. Whether it’s playing, coaching or watching, summer means baseball.  In 2008 members of the Amherstburg Minor Baseball and Amherstburg Rotary Club began discussions on how to build and operate a Miracle League Diamond. This league will allow everyone to have those special baseball memories.

Reason for being involved with the Amherstburg Miracle League:
2 years ago when I was asked to help with the pre-Miracle League tournament the team that I coached had people young and old that were so excited about playing baseball that day. Soon I realized this group wasn’t being held back by disabilities, only the lack of venue. By helping out with this vision the road blocks will be eliminated, all people will be able to enjoy the sports I had the pleasure of playing and watching other kids play while coaching them.

Reason for being involved:
I first heard about the Miracle League through a few good friends of mine. As I sat and listened to them share their stories about a baseball tournament they had arranged for people with developmental and physical disabilities, I was struck by how amazed they were by watching these athlete compete. Their inspiring story convinced me that the Miracle League was something I wanted to become involved with. The Miracle League has the potential to change the lives of so many athletes who have longed to play a game that they love. I can’t wait for opening day!
